What are INTERNET, TR069, IPTV and OTHER in the backend of optical modem? Before changing the bridge, first identify which one is active

Comparison of four business connections in the backend of optical modem: INTERNET is responsible for broadband, TR069 is responsible for remote management, IPTV/OTHER is responsible for TV, and VOICE is responsible for landline calls. Only INTERNET will be affected when changing the bridge.

Last month, I helped Lao Zhao change the bridge connection of mobile optical modem. He asked me while holding the mouse.: There are four links on this page, INTERNET , TR069 , IPTV , OTHER , is it like the background of a mobile phone, where all the useless ones are deleted and it becomes refreshing? I quickly held him down and said that there was only one line here that could be moved at will. If I deleted it wrongly, the TV screen would go black, or the broadband would automatically change back the next day. Even worse, there would be no dial tone for the landline.

Later, I checked the ZTE F7015T at home and the Huawei HS8145V5 from my neighbor. The interfaces looked different, but the underlying logic was basically the same. This article will not use nouns, but will tell you who is in charge of what among these four items, which item to use when changing the bridge, and how to fix the error after deleting it, based on the pitfalls I have stepped on.

Those four are not four network cables, but four passes for different services.

When many people enter the backend of optical modem for the first time and see a row of entries in the "Network Connection", they will think that each line corresponds to a network port behind optical modem's butt. Not really. The LAN ports at the back of the optical modem are physical ports, and the row in the background is called WAN connection , which is a virtual channel cut out according to different services after exiting the optical port. You can understand it as the same optical fiber enters the building, and the operator draws four doors side by side on it, and each door only allows one type of traffic.

So it's not "it will get stuck if there are four more lines", but "the four lines each do their own thing". There is one line for broadband Internet access, one line for live TV, one line for operators' remote management of equipment, and another line for fixed-line voice in some areas. There is also a VLAN ID attached to each strip, which is equal to the house number of the door. If the house number is wrong by one digit, the data will go to the wrong channel, which manifests itself in the fact that the broadband cannot be dialed, the TV is stuck, or the phone has no sound.

The names configured by different cats and provinces will be slightly different, but if you recognize the following keywords, you will basically not go astray.

connection name Roughly what does it take care of? What to do when changing the bridge connection risk
INTERNET Broadband Internet access, PPPoE or DHCP If you really want to move it, change the bridge or add a Bridge in, want to redial
TR069 Operator remote management and configuration delivery Ordinary users do not delete If it is high, the configuration will be messy.
IPTV/OTHER Live TV, called OTHER or iTV in some provinces Keep the original strip and bind it to the LAN port , TV screen black
VOICE landline voice, sometimes OTHER reserve , there is no sound from the landline

Let’s talk about the four items one by one. First remember which one you can’t owe.

INTERNET This is the easiest one to recognize. It either says "INTERNET_R_VID_41", or directly call the long list of "InternetGatewayDevice.WANDevice.1.WANConnectionDevice.1.WANPPPConnection.1". Most home broadband routers default to Route mode, and Optical Mode dials by itself. ; If you want to switch to dialing on your own router, just change the mode from Route to Bridge on this line, or do a more prudent approach like China Unicom, leaving the original line unchanged and adding a new Bridge to avoid the TV and landline being brought down at the same time.

TR069 It is dedicated to remote management by operators. If you find that the super administrator password has been changed from telecomadmin to something else in the middle of the night, or the bridge you just changed has returned to routing mode overnight, it is probably because it is issuing the link. This one has a special feature: Many firmwares are directly locked. When you click delete, it will prompt "Configuration is locked", which is to prevent you from being stuck. I don't recommend that ordinary users touch it. I am really annoyed by it, so I need to configure the backup first, and then consider setting restrictions on ITMS related pages instead of deleting the connection right away. i wrote The relationship between ITMS and TR-069 , after reading it you will understand why it is so difficult.

IPTV/OTHER This name is the most inconsistent. Some telecommunications companies directly call it "OTHER"_B_VID_45", China Mobile may call it "IPTV", and some old cats in China Unicom call it "OTHER". No matter what it is called, as long as you see that it is related to the TV box and VLAN is not the same number as the broadband, treat it as a TV channel first. The most fearful thing about changing the bridge connection is to delete this connection along with the original INTERNET. As a result, the TV screen is black but the broadband is normal. You will never think that this connection is the problem. I'm in this trap IPTV and broadband share the same line It was also explained in that article.

VOICE Most easily ignored. If you still have a landline at home, there will usually be a separate VOICE line in the backend of optical modem, or it will be plugged into OTHER. If the phone has no dial tone, don't blame the phone yet, and don't press the reset hole on the phone. 90% of the time it's the voice channel that's broken. Voice VLAN and broadband VLAN are almost never the same number, so do not mix them when reconfiguring them.

Which one should you really change when changing the bridge? I suggest you do it in this order.

Let’s be clear first: You most likely just need to follow INTERNET deal with. But there is one step that cannot be omitted before taking action.—— meter reading . Take a photo or screenshot of this connection's VLAN ID, 802.1P priority, encapsulation type, and user name. After someone changed the bridge connection, they found that the router could not be dialed. When they went back to find the original configuration, they found that the optical modem had been changed beyond recognition. That was when it became troublesome.

After copying, China Mobile and China Unicom can follow different habits. Many mobile optical modems allow you to directly find an "INTERNET" and change it to Bridge, or create a new Bridge. Be careful to copy the VLAN first, and then bind it to the LAN port you connect to the router. I have written the specific path for this step. Mobile optical modem to bridge , don’t guess while watching. For China Unicom, it is recommended not to delete the original one, but to keep the routing one first, and then add a Bridge, so that the TV and landline at home will not be dropped at the same time. This experience comes from China Unicom Optical Modem changes to bridge connection without overturning That article was the most stable after three people tried it.

If you don’t use a TV at home and are not afraid of remote management by the operator, then don’t delete the entire page. Only change INTERNET and leave the rest as they are, so it won’t consume more of your internet speed. After the optical modem changes to the bridge connection, the WiFi and some background functions of the optical modem will become "semi-disabled". This is a normal phenomenon and does not mean that it is broken. Correct before changing Four things to do after bridging If you have a number, you can save half the repair calls.

How can I save it if I delete it by mistake? I've seen three types of car rollovers, and the rescue methods are actually not difficult.

The first is IPTV/OTHER is gone . Symptoms are very typical: The broadband is very good, but as soon as the TV box is turned on, the screen goes black or reports "Service delivery failed." The solution is to create a new OTHER or IPTV, fill in the original VLAN ID, and then tie the LAN port back to the port connected to the set-top box. If you don't even know the original VLAN, you can only reinstall it from the list left by Master Wei, or look for it in the old configuration backup.

The second is INTERNET is gone . This performance is more direct, and the router dial keeps spinning in circles. Create a new INTERNET, first fill in the Route or Bridge mode according to the operator's requirements, and fill in the broadband account password and VLAN as they are. If you haven’t left your account and password, that’s the most difficult step. Go ahead at this time. Find broadband account password , it takes a while. So reading the meter before changing it is really life-saving.

The third type is TR069 is gone . Some people find that this item cannot be deleted, so they use various folk remedies to get rid of it. Later, the modem time may be inaccurate, the super-admin password may change randomly, the registration fails after changing the device, or even the configuration will revert to the same state as soon as it is sent. In this case, it is difficult for ordinary users to add a usable TR069 by themselves. Most of the time, they can only restore the factory and re-register, or directly report a fault and have the installation and maintenance be re-issued remotely. This is why I don't recommend touching it.

Either way, do one thing first: If you have imported a configuration backup before, go into the backend and look for options near "Configuration File" or "Restore Default" to import the backup back. Those VLANs are often left in the configuration file, which is more reliable than retyping from memory. If there is no backup, prepare the model number, broadband account number, and LOID on the back of the optical modem, and explain them clearly when reporting a fault.

Ending with a table: Go to the backend and see four items, click this to move

Don't be intimidated by that row of English. Remember a principle: Only use INTERNET when changing bridging. Back up everything else first and then decide. . If you are really not sure, just take a photo and show it to the installer. They read this page every day, which is much faster than your own trial and error.

what do you want to do now Which one to move? Do you want to back up first?
Change the bridge connection and let the router dial up INTERNET Yes, copy VLAN and account password
Black screen and freeze during live TV broadcast Check IPTV/OTHER Watch it first, don’t delete it directly
No dial tone from landline Check VOICE/OTHER Confirm the voice channel first
Super management password is always changed Check TR069 If necessary, guide the configuration and then decide
I want to delete the "useless" to refresh myself. Don’t delete any of them randomly Back up first, stop when in doubt

Lao Zhao did not delete that page that day, but only changed the copied parameters of INTERNET to bridge. After dialing the number on the router, his first words were: It turns out that those English words were not rubbish, but that I almost tore down all the water and electricity grid at home. So I also send this sentence to those who come to the backstage of optical modem for the first time.: Recognize the door first, then take action.
